House Manager

My client is a highly successful American Businessman who is looking for a House Manager to assist in the daily running of his family homes, assisting him and his wife with their busy lives (they also have 2 children) This is an informal household but with a Principle who expects and likes the finer things in life.

We are looking for a House Manager who is a “Swiss Army Knife.” Someone who is an excellent allrounder and an individual who is happy to do driving, concierge & butler duties all rolled into one role. The client is prepared to pay a highly competitive and attractive salary to find the right individual and has realistic expectations. Their current House Manager has worked for the family for 4 years.

This role would suit someone from a high end 5-star hotel background who is perhaps looking for a new opportunity and to get into Private Service. You may have been a Head Chef, or Front Office Manager, or Hotel Manager. We are looking for someone with a real passion for service, great energy and drive and someone who is prepared to work hard.

Typical Hours of Work  

  • Hours: Monday – Friday
  • Starting 7.30am (school run days) to 17.30pm-18.00pm
  • Or Starting Midday- through to 20.00pm

This role is predominately Monday to Friday. There does however need to be a flexibility but the family travel lots and you will get 2x weeks off over Christmas, 2x Weeks off over Easter & 4x Weeks off over the summer while the family are away.


The driving element of the role will involve doing the school run 2-3 times per week depending on the schedule. Ready to go for 7.30am and dropping the children home at 17.30pm.

You will also drive the Principle’s wife around in the afternoon if required and be prepared to do adhoc errands. You will then drive the family from London to their country property in Hampshire on a Friday afternoon. A Luxury Car will be provided.


The family have a busy and hectic work and social life and are looking for someone who simply gets things organised and sorted. You need to be a self-starter, someone who can use their initiative and an individual who genuinely enjoys giving great 5-star service. You will also be technically savvy and be able to look after the principle’s modern homes, including sorting out the internet, or looking after the boiler.


The family love good food and enjoy having family meals. You will be skilled in basic butler duties including setting and laying the table and although not a chef, you will also be required to source the very best ingredients and meals for the family.
